Food Bank Receives Grant to Purchase Food for with Club Kids II Snack Program
Fredericksburg, VA (Nov 8, 2017) – The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the FY18 Red Nose Day Child Hunger Grant to purchase food for the after-school Club Kids II snack program. LaToya Brown, Children’s Programs Coordinator, says, "Kids are hungry after school, especially students who don't go straight home once class is dismissed. Club Kids II fills the hunger gap between school dismissal and arriving at home. The Red Nose Day Child Hunger Grant will help us continue offering fresh food each day, encouraging kids to embrace a healthy diet."
The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank sponsors sites at Boys & Girls Club, Hazel Hill Community, Heritage Park Community, Salem Elementary and the program is steadily growing. Oya Oliver, FRFB President and CEO stated, “Club Kids II is a wonderful investment by the Red Nose Day Child Hunger Grant in the future of our community. By bridging the hunger gap with healthy foods for children, we are giving them the tools for not just a successful school year, but a successful future!”
