Oya Oliver, President & CEO, will retire at the end of April after 26 years with the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank (FRFB), Board Chair Shawn Buckner-Barnes has announced. Mrs. Oliver started as a volunteer with the FRFB in 1982, served on the Board, and ultimately was named Executive Director in 1994.

A compassionate leader in the fight against hunger, Mrs. Oliver has overseen the growth of food relief operations from a church basement to the current warehouse location in Spotsylvania County. Food distribution has increased to 3.9 million pounds in 2019, the equivalent of 3.1 million meals. She also expanded programming to include children, seniors, and a Mobile Pantry that distributes food directly from a refrigerated truck in remote and underserved areas.

Ms. Barnes states, “On behalf of the Board of the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Oya Oliver for her years of dedicated service to the food bank and her commitment to a hunger-free community. We wish her good health and happiness as she enjoys retirement and the opportunity to spend more time with family. Dayle Reschick, Director of Human Resources and Finance, who has been with the food bank for over 25 years, will serve as Interim President & CEO while a nationwide search takes place for a new leader.”
