Giant Food has been a valued supporter of the FRFB and leader in our community, donating over $1,000,000 since 2000. Giant also regularly donates grocery items to the Food Bank, ensuring there is no waste and food gets in the hands of our neighbors who need it. This week, Giant Food donated $50,000 to support our SFSP (Summer Kids Feeding) program. SFSP provides at-risk children with healthy, freshly-prepared lunches during the summer months when school lunches are not available. In the summer of 2021, a record-breaking 32,000 meals were distributed through seven sites.
“Giant Food’s number one charitable pillar has always been to fight against hunger in the communities it serves, which is why we are proud to support and partner with the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank,” says Daniel Wolk, External Communications and Community Relations Manager for Giant Food. “Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank has continually been on the front lines doing an outstanding job of fighting food insecurity. We look forward to maintaining our close partnership with the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, as we remain steadfast in our goal to make a positive impact and end hunger in our communities.”
“The generosity of Giant shows its commitment to improving our community,” said Dan Maher, President & CEO of the Food Bank. “Their contributions to our operations are extraordinary and I am so grateful that they have such a strong desire to invest in the unique role we can play in reducing hunger across our region. Their partnership is exemplary!”
