The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank announced today it has been named a “2019 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews of charities and nonprofits.
The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank functions as a food hub in PD16, distributing 3.6 million pounds of food last year through over 250 hunger-relief programs. “We are honored to be named a 2019 Top-Rated Nonprofit,” says Oya Oliver, President & CEO. “We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including expanding our senior and child hunger programs.”
The Top-Rated Nonprofit Award is based on the rating and number of reviews that Fredericksburg Regional Food Banks received from volunteers, donors and aid recipients. One volunteer shared, “The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is our family's charity of choice. While we have worked with and contributed to multiple causes over the years, we wanted to focus on what we thought was most important for the community. The choice was easy, as food is the most basic of needs. The food bank also has many different ways to help, in addition to monetary contributions. While the Fredericksburg area is relatively affluent, the number of persons/families needing food assistance is very significant, and not well known to the general population. The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is the primary organization helping this "invisible population" meet their most basic needs.
“The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is a great example of a nonprofit making a real difference in their community,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “Their award is well-deserved recognition not only of their work but the tremendous support they receive, as shown by the many outstanding reviews they have received from people who have direct experience working with the food bank.”
GreatNonprofits is the leading website where people share stories about their personal experiences on more than 1.6 million charities and nonprofits. The GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Awards are the only awards for nonprofits determined by those who have direct experience with the charities – as donors, volunteers and recipients of aid.
